About HTSLookup
HTSLookup shows every code in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States with the duties U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is collecting on it today, by country of origin: the regular duty from the schedule and each additional tariff on top of it, with the source and date of every rate.
Who runs it
HTSLookup is run by Northwoods Ventures LLC, a small U.S. company that builds reference websites from public government data. Questions, corrections and data problems go to support@htslookup.com. If you find a rate that doesn't match what CBP collected on your entry, tell us: we check every report against the source.
Where the data comes from
- Tariff codes and regular duty rates: the U.S. International Trade Commission's Harmonized Tariff Schedule, loaded from its official data service when each revision is published.
- Additional tariffs: the chapter 99 provisions of the schedule, and the proclamations, executive orders and notices behind them in the Federal Register.
- What CBP is collecting: CBP's trade messages (CSMS), checked every day.
- Court challenges: opinions of the Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
We aren't part of, or endorsed by, CBP, the International Trade Commission or any other government agency. How rates are put together is on the methodology page.
What we promise
- Every rate comes from an official source, shown with its date.
- Every tariff program is checked line by line against its official sources before it appears on the site, and again whenever it changes.
- We show what CBP is collecting, not what a court or an announcement says may happen.
- No AI writes rates or tariff program details. The plain-English "What that translates to" names are drafted with the help of an AI model from the official text and checked against it, and they always sit under the official legal description, which is what counts.
How the site is paid for
HTSLookup is free to use. It's paid for by advertising and, once a broker partner is in place, by referral fees for connecting importers with licensed customs brokers; until then, our broker links go to CBP's own list and earn nothing. Ads and referrals never change the rates, codes or tariff programs we show.
