Last stage of the 2024 China tariff increases takes effect (Section 301)
Section 301 tariffs on some products of China rose on Jan 1, 2026, the last scheduled stage of the 2024 increases: 25% on natural graphite, permanent magnets and lithium-ion batteries, 50% on textile respirators and face masks, and 100% on rubber medical and surgical gloves.
From Jan 1, 2026, CBP collects higher Section 301 duties on the products of China below, on top of the regular duty. This is the last stage of the increases USTR set in September 2024 after its four-year review of the China tariffs.
- 25% (heading 9903.91.06): natural graphite (2504.10.10, 2504.10.50 and 2504.90.00), permanent magnets (8505.11.00) and lithium-ion batteries (8507.60.00). Lithium-ion batteries for electric passenger vehicles (8507.60.0010) have paid 25% since Sep 27, 2024; the rest of the subheading now pays it too.
- 50% (heading 9903.91.07): N95 and other respirators of textiles and face masks of textiles (6307.90.9842, 6307.90.9844, 6307.90.9850, 6307.90.9870 and 6307.90.9875), up from 25%.
- 100% (heading 9903.91.08): medical or surgical gloves of rubber (4015.12.10), up from 50% in 2025.
The exemption for enteral syringes (9018.31.0080) covered only entries "before January 1, 2026" (heading 9903.91.10), so from Jan 1, 2026 they pay the same 100% as other syringes under heading 9903.91.03.
