What it is

After the U.S. International Trade Commission found market disruption, the President added a duty on new pneumatic tires from China of the kind used on cars, SUVs, vans and on-the-highway light trucks: 35% on top of the regular rate for entries from Sep 26, 2009, 30% from Sep 26, 2010 and 25% from Sep 26, 2011. It ended after Sep 25, 2012.

Legal authority: Section 421 of the Trade Act of 1974 (19 U.S.C. 2451), China-specific safeguard; Proclamation 8414 of September 11, 2009. Additional duties that don't fall under the programs above.
